Engineering Design and Applications in Science Education An Item | A Material, consisting of the designs of students of Faculty of Education has been published as open access.
The book, edited by Prof. Dr. Ayşe Oğuz Ünver and Res. Asst. Dr. Hasan Zühtü Okulu, was created with the designs of the 3rd grade students of the Science Education Program of the Department of Mathematics and Science.
Published electronically by Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Publications, Engineering Design and Applications in Science Education An Item | A Materials consists of three parts. The first part of the book includes the theoretical framework about the nature of engineering design and its transfer to classroom practices. In the second part, there are examples of design-based activities that will contribute to the development of the habit of thinking like an engineer in the classroom for teachers. In this section, examples planned as a project development work that can be spread throughout the year and the designs of the living environments of the future are presented.
In the second part, the design report sample for students and the design evaluation rubric for teachers are shared. There is also a sample project study in which the engineering design process is explained in detail under the project idea development strategy of "One Item One Material" by the authors.
The third and final part of the book covers 15 selected projects that will contribute to the development of engineering design skills and that will be carried out with teacher candidates during one academic year.
