MSKU Produces Caviar from Sturgeon

Caviar production was carried out by the Faculty of Fisheries of our University through the breeding of endangered sturgeon fish.
Sturgeon fish, which was found by a fisherman in Seydikemer Eşen River in 2017 and has an important place in the production of black caviar, was delivered to the Faculty of Fisheries of our university.
Following this discovery, 100 Mersin fish (Acipenserbaerii) maternal candidates were obtained from Eşen River with the efforts of Associate Professor Ertan Ercan, Faculty of Fisheries, who has important studies and by the experts in our province on Sturgeon fish cultivation with the work of associate professor Ertan Ercan, Prof. Dr. Ali Günlü, and associate professor Nurçin Killi.
In the Ören R&D unit of our Faculty of Fisheries, black caviar, which is listed as one of the most valuable foods in the world, was produced.
This study is shown as an important project due to the production of caviar from Sturgeon in controlled conditions for the first time in our country. With this product with high added value, it is aimed to strengthen the employment of the region and provide support to the development move of our country.
