At our university, the "Meeting Point of Cultures Turkey" event was held as part of December 18th International Migrants Day in order to highlight the scope of our cultural wealth and improve communication and intercultural interaction.
A large number of local and international guests participated in the event, held in the 15th of July Martyrs Hall and Foyer, in cooperation with the University, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Muğla Governorship, Menteşe District Municipality, Association for Solidarity with Refugees and Immigrants, Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants under the coordination of Muğla Migration Management Directorate.
A film on the theme of ‘Communication and Empathy’ prepared by international students and stakeholder institutions was shown at the event. The films of success stories which were prepared by the foreign volunteers who received their university education in Turkey and continued to work around the world were also screened.
The program continued with the performance of the folk dances of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Folk Dance Group, Marmaris Russian Culture and Cooperation Association ‘MaRusya’ Dance Group and Afghanistan Students Karsak Group, followed a musical performance by Shahram Hussa's from Afghanistan.
Provincial Director of Migration Management Mehmet Kavuk presented the National Swallow Prize to Yacine Issaka from Nijeria, who graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics at the top of the faculty in the 2018-2019 academic year.
