At the "Cyclist Environment Festival", hundreds of bicycles and nature lovers from Marmaris and the surrounding districts cycled to plant saplings.
The cyclists, who set off from Marmaris İskele Meydanı, pedaled about 9 kilometers to İçmeler, which was badly damaged by the fire. 400 cyclists from Marmaris and surrounding districts brought together about 3,000 saplings with soil in the area prepared by Marmaris Forest Management Directorate for the re-growing of burning areas.
At the festival, which was attended by Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University students with their bicycles, the Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Çiçek, who pedaled from Marmaris to İçmeler, said "Sports are the basis of social life in Muğla, which is known as the paradise of the earth. After this extreme sport, we will plant trees. Thus, we will have left a green world for future generations by planting seedlings instead of the forest area that disappeared after the fire”
