Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Çiçek visited Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and made important contacts.
Rector Çiçek made the opening speech of the 8th International Music and Dance Congress, which was hosted by Üzeyir Hacıbeyli Baku Music Academy and of which we are the main stakeholder.
Rector Çiçek stated that he was very proud and happy to be in such an important congress and continued his speech as follows: “The special bond of brotherhood that connects the Turkish peoples of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Central Asia is a bridge that provides the transition from Central Asia to Anatolia. In this respect, Azerbaijan has an important place in the music of the Turkish World, in the field of music and dance, as in many cultural areas. We are a single ancient people in two different geographies that share and will share all the treasures of our history with a common sense of belonging. Our language, which is the most basic of our cultural sharing tools, is also common in art.”
During the meetings held here, it was decided to hold the International Music and Dance Congress at our University next year. In the congress, which will be held for the 10th time in August next year, hosted by Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, dance and music performances from different geographies of the Turkish world will be presented. There will also be academic discussions on music and dance. The congress is planned to be held at Marmaris Tourism Vocational School due to the fire disaster that took place in our province in the past months and caused the greatest damage to the forest areas in Marmaris. Thus, it is aimed to promote the tourism potential of our city and especially Marmaris, together with the Turkish world, to the whole world again and more strongly. In addition, in the congress where important researchers from the Turkish world will come together, it is aimed to introduce the Zeybek dance, which includes the local figures of our region, to the whole world.
During the visit to brotherly Azerbaijan by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Çiçek and Marmaris Tourism Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekrem Ayan, bilateral agreements with universities as well as Mevlana Exchange Program agreements were signed.
